Professional experience
I have a BS in Marketing from Auburn University and come from a rewarding career in
advertising and event promotions. I now enjoy working with animals and helping them to lead
a happier, healthier life.
Personal experience
"I love them all, great and small"
To say I love animals would be an understatement. I grew up with all types of animals. My
grandparents owned a small farm and I loved looking for eggs and helping my Grandpa in the
barn. In our house we had dogs, cats, fish and hamsters, but if any of our family or friends had
pets I was right there wanting to play with them. We loved when the school rabbit or gerbil
got to spend the weekend at our house. For a couple months when I was in high school I even
raised an orphaned squirrel.
In college I adopted my first dog. Koko was a 3 year old chocolate lab. After adopting her I
learned she had epilepsy and suffered such severe Grand Mal seizures that she had to be on a
strict medication schedule. I was not willing to sit back and watch her struggle with this
disease. I found a great website www.canine-epilepsy.com and they helped me help her. We
also discovered acupuncture and it helped Koko have less than one seizure a year.

American Red Cross - Certified Pet 1st Aid & CPR Instructor
Home Sweet Home is committed to educating the pet community. In 2009 we took the
American Red Crossing training to become certified to teach Pet CPR and 1st Aid. If you are
interested in attending a class, please let us know.
Kendall County Pet Food Pantry
In 2009 Home Sweet Home started volunteering at the food pantry. After several months we
decided to help create the first pet food pantry in Kendall County. Each month we give out up
to 3000 lbs of free pet food. The pet food is donated by corporations, local businesses and
community members. If you are interested in donating please let us know.
C.I.L.R.A.
In 2000 we decided to find Koko a friend. After lots of paperwork and a home visit we
officially became a foster home. Over the next year we fostered 6 dogs, volunteered at
C.I.L.R.A. events, did home visits and eventually adopted a 3 year old yellow lab, Maggie.
Fostering is a labor of love. We found that with patience and love all our foster dogs become
great pets and found loving homes.
Fox Valley Animal Welfare League
Home Sweet Home recently got involved with the FVAWL when a team member asked about
trying to raise donations for the FVAWL's 5k walk. With the help of our clients we were able to
raise $420. This year the FVAWL was also the recipient of the Present 4 Pets donation campaign.
Pet related donations were given by the community members the entire month of October.
Anti-Cruelty Society
We love to participate in the annual Chicago Bark in Park that is a 5k walk to raise money to
fund this great organization. Not only do we walk to help raise money, but we donate as well.
